EXPERIENCE TANZANIA BEYOND THE ORDINARY

Journey into the heart of Tanzania with Mbogo Tanzania Safaris. From the endless plains of the Serengeti and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater to the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, we create unforgettable safari experiences shaped around your interests, comfort and sense of adventure.

The person behind Mbogo

I grew up an hour from the crater rim.

I started as a spotter, then drove for other companies for eleven years — good years, but always someone else’s itinerary. Mbogo is the way I have always wanted to work: small groups, my own vehicle, and enough time in one place to actually watch something happen.

A buffalo is mbogo in Swahili. It is not the animal people photograph most, but it is the one that taught me to read the bush: patient, watchful, never where you assume it will be. That is the way I guide.

I speak English, Swahili and French, I know which gate to enter at which hour, and I would rather sit an extra forty minutes at a river crossing than tick a fifth park off a list.

The one thing worth planning around

Where the herds are, month by month.

Two million wildebeest and zebra move in a slow clockwise loop. They do not consult a calendar, but they are predictable within a few weeks — so tell me when you can travel and I will tell you where to be.

The vehicle

One Land Cruiser. Yours for the whole trip.

Every seat is a window seat, the roof opens fully for photography, and nobody else is sharing it. It is also the reason we can stop for forty minutes at a waterhole without a group vote.

Why travel with Mbogo

The difference is who is at the wheel.

Most safaris are sold by an agency in Europe and subcontracted on arrival. Here you book the guide. Hassan answers your emails before the trip, drives you during it, and knows by day two whether you would rather see one leopard properly than four things briefly.

This cheetah climbed onto the bonnet on the crater rim and stayed twenty minutes. It is not something we can promise. It is the kind of thing that happens when you are willing to switch the engine off and wait.

Your Ultimate Tanzania Travel FAQ Guide

Tanzania offers unmatched wildlife diversity and some of the largest protected areas in Africa. It is home to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Ruaha, and Selous—parks that hold massive populations of lions, elephants, and the world-famous Great Migration. The government also strictly enforces conservation policies, guaranteeing an authentic and safe safari experience.
The Serengeti is unique because of its incredible size (nearly 30,000 km²), its open grasslands, and the continuous movement of the Great Migration. Unlike other parks in Africa, wildlife here is not seasonal—you can see predators and plains game throughout the year. The ecosystem has remained untouched for centuries, offering a truly wild experience.

Safaris are generally relaxing—you stay seated in a comfortable 4×4 vehicle with plenty of breaks. Kilimanjaro is physically demanding due to steep trails, altitude, and cold temperatures. Climbers must be reasonably fit, but no technical climbing skills are required.

Tanzania has two main seasons: Dry season (June–October): Best for safaris, cooler temperatures Green season (November–March): Beautiful landscapes, calving season Long rains (April–May): Heavy rain, but fewer tourists and greener parks Zanzibar remains warm and pleasant almost all year.
